The facility will be used for research into efficient FEL schemes to produce ultra-short pulses of high-brightness coherent light. The CLARA Conceptual Design Report (CDR) was published in July 2013, and can be found on the ASTeC website: http://www.stfc.ac.uk/ASTeC/resources/PDF/CLARA_CDRv2.pdf. The electron beamline will transport an electron beam from the 6 MeV gun, through a series of linacs which accelerate the beam to a final energy of 240 MeV. The magnets listed in this contract are two dipoles for two of CLARA's spectrometer beamlines, used to measure the energy of the beam following acceleration. Each of these will bend a high-energy beam through 30°. The Contract duration shall be for a period of 6 months from commencement of the Contract.

What is more, being a not-for-profit organisation owned by its customers, UK SBS’ goals are aligned with the public sector and delivering best value for the UK taxpayer. UK Shared Business Services Ltd changed its name from RCUK Shared Services Centre Ltd in March 2013. Our Customers Growing from a foundation of supporting the Research Councils, 2012/13 saw Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) transition their procurement to UK SBS and Crown Commercial Service (CSS - previously Government Procurement Service) agree a Memorandum of Understanding with UK SBS to deliver two major procurement categories (construction and research) across Government. UK SBS currently manages £700m expenditure for its Customers, our growth projections anticipate this will rise to £1bn in 2013/14. Important information From the 2nd April 2014 the Government is introducing its new Government Security Classifications (GSC) classification scheme to replace the current Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS). A key aspect of this is the reduction in the number of security classifications used. All potential suppliers should make themselves aware of the changes as it may impact on this Requirement. The link below to the Gov.uk website provides information on the new GSC: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/government-security-classifications

The machine will be able to form and polish the Tungsten components in the target and thereby remove the need to send this to an external company for processing which are crucial to the target development programme. More components will be manufactured internally after this purchase. The main drivers are for surface finish, high precision, reliability, after sale service, ease of use, and training packages. Issues with size and floor space are very important in a small workshop.

Emergency Building Lighting - There are emergency lights throughout 5 buildings. These would have been installed to support an earlier use (mostly accommodation and mess facility). These appear to be well positioned for the present usage (Police Training) however, the building was vacant for a number of years and some fittings are not working. It is anticipated that a fairly extensive replacement programme is required to ensure they last for their rated duration and pass a longer test.

GB-Poole: St Ann's Hospital, Main LV Switchgear Replacement - The hospital has a single 11kV 400kVA transformer sub-station supplying electrical power to the site via the adjacent main switchroom. The main Hospital LV switchboard is to be replaced with a higher rated switchboard having full automatic standby generator support, additional outgoing circuits and incorporating the existing SSE metering for the incoming supply and new metering for all main outgoing circuits to the buildings. The Hospital has many critical loads and hence the replacement of the LV switchboard is to be carried out in a controlled exercise, one outgoing supply at a time, with the installation of a temporary main switchboard supported from two temporary 400kVA standby generators throughout the duration of the disconnection of the loads from the existing main switchboard and their subsequent reconnection to the new main switchboard. The new switchboard is to be handled into position and assembled by the switchboard manufacturer's staff ready for the connection of the incoming transformer supply, the Hospital standby generator supply and the outgoing cables. The Trusts "permit to work" system is to be used throughout the replacement of the main switchboard.
