Minor Roads Surfacing Contract 2016/17 - Reading Borough Council is seeking an experienced contractor to enter into a contract with to carry out surfacing works on various areas of carriageway within the Highway Network as part of the Council’s annual highways maintenance programme. The areas have been selected by a scanner process and routine visual inspections. A core programme of works has been identified, along with a further list of reserve schemes that may be completed by the successful contractor, subject to funding. The Contractor will be required to undertake the following main elements of work: - • Weed killing in advance of the works • Removal of road markings as required by the process. • Sweeping of carriageway, removal of vegetation and preparing to lay surfacing. • Laying of Micro Asphalt or equivalent proprietary surfacing material including regulating. • Jetting and cleaning of gullies. • Raising existing ironwork to new levels. • Reinstatement of existing road markings with minor alterations as specified by the Council. • Management of pedestrian and vehicular traffic including road closures with diversion routes. The contract value is expected to be in the region of £120k - £220k
