CEFAS22-09 OWEC Fisheries sensitivity modelling - The project aims to provide a better understanding of the sensitivities of fishing activities to Offshore Windfarms (OWF) which is needed to identify areas that are high and low risk areas of conflict between two industries. High risk areas of conflict between commercial fishing and OWF can lead to objections and significant delays to the consultation and consenting process for OWFs as the economic stakes for the fishing sectors are high. In contrast, it can be assumed that in areas characterised by lower levels of fishing activity, the conflict with OWF will be low as well. In addition to the delay of the consultation process, there is the risk of high costs for compensation/cooperation payments to fishers for any displacement and other mitigation measures required. This project will review and test existing tools/data/models to: (1) identify the recent spatial distribution of fishing activities of UK vessels in the UK EEZ based on individual vessels' positional tracking data, fisheries activity database and relevant ancillary data collected by MMO & Marine Scotland, and (2) assess the constraints and opportunities for the fishing industry to adapt (including displacement) to the local development of OWFs.

East Cheshire Aquifer Groundwater Model update - The objectives of the work are: • To review the 2004 East Cheshire Aquifer Model and agree and obtain the datasets to be used in the model upgrade • To upgrade the model with meteorological, abstraction and hydrometric data time series data from 1970 to December 2021 • To agree other valuable upgrades to the Model with the Task Review Team and implement them • To review, update and finalise the East Cheshire Aquifer Model Report - bringing the existing conceptual model up-to-date with current and updated data, literature and understanding.

NEA - MMF - NAT - Improving Water Resource Modelling in the Till and Tweed - This project will deliver a desk-based study with two purposes. The first will be focused on hydrometric data and conceptualisation in order to provide a description of hydrological and hydrogeological processes within the catchment and, identify opportunities and constraints to achieving and maintaining a robust hydrometric monitoring programme. The second will be focused on developing inputs for our CAMS process by producing accurate mapping profiles of the catchment and developing appropriate records of artificially influenced flows on cross-border river reaches.

GB-Watford: 3D Modelling Engagement Exercise - The Council requires a bespoke piece of work using the 3D model. This is a bespoke engagement project that will provide information and explanation for some of the council's active travel projects. The requirement will be an informative video and an interactive 'game' as part of the 3D platform. This piece of work needs to engage with the Council's 3D model which is operated by Digital Urban. Please review the attached documentation and provide an expression of interest if this is something you are interested, capable of and have the necessary capacity.

Groundwater, Nature-based Solutions, WQ, Climate Change mapping and modelling - This cross-cutting project aims to assess the water quality and water resource benefits (and other multiple benefits) of installing nature-based solutions across a catchment. This desk-based work is predominantly focusing on modelling the water resource impacts of climate change to see if nature-based solutions can mitigate climate change impacts, ascertain the impacts of climate change on nitrate concentrations in groundwater, and ascertain a water quality evidence-base to support climate change.

East Cheshire Aquifer Model - The EA is looking to procure one Contractor to deliver the requirements outlined in this Opportunity Notice. A separate contract will be commissioned for an External Peer Reviewer (EPR), who will assist the EA and Contractor on the main contract with decision making and quality checks as part of the Task Review Team. It is now close to two decades since the original groundwater model was developed. It requires updating with meteorological, abstraction and hydrometric data time series data from January 2002 to December 2021, so that it is up to date, and the EA can use it confidently to manage the water resources and assess impacts of abstraction. The model also requires upgrading from MODFLOW 96 to the modelling codes agreed by the project team. Nature-based Solutions mapping and modelling in chalk catchments - The objective of this project is to assess the water resource benefits (and other multiple benefits) of modelling Nature-based solutions (NBS) measures across Chalk catchments. This is predominantly a desk-based numerical model study, although future work may progress to trialling some NBS measures. The outputs of this project are required to embed the Groundwater and NBS concept into the catchment approach and improve water resources (i.e. increased soil infiltration rates, groundwater recharge rates, aquifer storage and summer base-flows) across Chalk catchments. The aim of this work is to increase our understanding of how NBS can support and improve water resources across Chalk catchments and to provide groundwater that is more resilient to the impacts of climate change and droughts. The project is a collaboration with Water Resources East (WRE) who have made two bids to the water resources strategic review of charges (WR SRoC) chalk partnership fund to support this project through mapping and modelling in catchments in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
