PQ0092 - The Provision of a GBS LEP Growth Hub Business Support Function - GBS LEP working with Birmingham City Council is seeking to commission a contractor to deliver a Business Support Function as part of the delivery of the GBS LEP Business Growth Hub. Growth Hubs are part of a government initiative to roll out a national network of hubs which will provide a single local place for businesses to go for business related advice and support. The provision of a GBS LEP Growth Hub is seen as a ‘game changer’ in the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan (http://centreofenterprise.com/s/s). They will help to create economic prosperity for the area. GBS LEP and its key delivery partners believe that it is important that its Growth Hub provides its own dedicated business support function as part of a comprehensive business support service. Linux Virtual Machine Managed Support - It is intended that this procurement will result in the award of a contract for the packaging, deployment, monitoring and tier 1 & 2 support for myriad Linux VMs around the GANT network. The extant contract for these services ends in Qtr 4 2014/15 and needs to be replaced. There are approximately 250 Linux VMs at the present time with growth forecast at approximately 10 per month (including the optimisation of extant GANT services) during the life of any contract. Services performed by the VMs typically include network monitoring and management tools (approximately 70% of all VMs) and a range of specific VMs for users across the GANT community to run their tools on in respect of specific end user facing services or test beds. Each VM deployment will have a number of instances associated with it including development, testing and production.
