Sheffield City Region Sector Based Work Academy - 1.1. CITB has recently trialled a Sector Based Work Academy (SBWA) delivery model in the Sheffield City Region to assist unemployed residents of the area to secure employment locally. The trial included CITB staff, Sheffield City College staff, local employers and DWP teams. 1.2. The programme consisted of: • An IAG/Selection Day • 3 weeks vocational & employability skills training (including the obtaining of CSCS cards) • Work experience • Guaranteed interviews 1.3. After successful completion of the trial CITB are now seeking a framework of providers to work with us over the next 18 months to stage a further series of Sector Based Work Academies across the Sheffield City Region (SCR) The area covered by the Sheffield City Region is: • South Yorkshire o Sheffield o Rotherham o Doncaster o Barnsley • Derbyshire o Chesterfield o North East Derbyshire o Bolsover o Derbyshire Dales • Nottinghamshire o Bassetlaw 1.4. . The format of the Academies will remain as above and would need to be repeated, as a minimum 11 times up to 31st December 2016 across the whole area. 1.5. The programme content of the 3 week vocational & employability training will need to be able to be flexed to meet the needs of local employment opportunities and therefore the supplier would need to negotiate with CITB staff over the workshop/outside area facilities needed to deliver the 3 weeks of training (space requirements are likely to be changed depending on the skills that need to be taught but this will be determined in consultation between CITB, the supplier). 1.6. Further details of CITB requirements and the nature of this opportunity are set out in the following sections of this ITT.

The Learning Gateway - The new Learning Gateway will be set up to support young people who have disengaged from their post 16 learning placement. The project will work with local colleges and other post 16 learning providers to support young people who are no longer able to continue in their chosen learning placement and to develop support packages to help them move into an alternative positive learning activity. The project will engage with 16 and 17 year olds. It will support them directly as they leave their learning placement. A particular focus must be those learners whose learning placements begin to break down very early in year 12, potentially because the reality of their course choices does not match their expectations. The project is intended to be a creative rapid response service to engage with a large number of young people and ensure that they are able to move into their next destination. This will involve making maximum use of other services and learning provision.

Review of flexible modes of delivery for PGT Provision - The University of Exeter wishes to commission consultants for work in two lots: Lot 1: Evaluation of best practice internationally in relation to the flexible delivery of high quality postgraduate taught provision. Lot 2: An assessment of the capacity and readiness of the University of Exeter to deliver flexible PGT provision. Overview of lots: Lot 1: Evaluation of best practice internationally in relation to the flexible delivery of high quality postgraduate taught provision. The purpose of this lot is to provide a report that increases the University’s understanding of the nature of provision from its competitors, and to obtain an expert review of the most effective flexible provision those institutions may be offering. The University’s comparator group for this research is the 24 universities that are members of the Russell Group in the UK and the World Top 200 universities in the THE World University Rankings. Lot 2: An assessment of the capacity and readiness of the University of Exeter to deliver flexible PGT provision. This lot will provide a report that will inform future decisions on whether to offer more flexible PGT provision, and if the University wishes to develop and deliver flexible provision, what would be required in order to be able to do so successfully. The University wishes to price its provision within the top decile in the UK, so will need to ensure it has the capacity and capability to deliver a high quality offering, commensurate with the price. There are a number of dimensions of institutional capacity and readiness, listed below, that should be investigated. The Consultant should identify their proposed methodology in their tender, but it is anticipated that in addition to desk research the Consultant will wish to interview key personnel in academic disciplines and priority professional services to inform their recommendations.
