(NU/1864) Supply of a Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analysers and Ancillary Apparatus for Wet and Dry Sample Dispersion - The University has recently been awarded an EPSRC Core Funding and Unmet Demands Equipment grant and wants to purchase one Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyser, including Ancillary Apparatus for Wet and Dry Sample Dispersion, Software and PC. This equipment will be housed in the Merz Court Analytical Suite within the School of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows: • To be able to measure particle size distributions in samples containing particles ranging from nanometer-scale to micron- and millimetre-scale sizes; • To be able to measure particles dispersed in wet and dry medium (i.e. air). • To be able to carry out measurements in a wide range of aqueous or organic solvent wet mediums. • To be able to obtain morphological information in addition to particle size distribution information. • To be able to carry out full data analysis and calculations on the raw and processed data using the system software, and export results for presentation/further processing using other pieces of software. The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment detailed in the ITT to the University, with after-sales support and 12 months warranty and maintenance

Procurement of an X-Ray Diffractometer - The University of Bristol has a requirement for a new X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) which will form part of the Facility for Radioactive Materials Surfaces (FaRMS), part of the National Nuclear User Facility (NNUF) project. FaRMS will be embedded in the Interface Analysis Centre (IAC), part of the School of Physics. The requirement is comprised of a state-of-the-art XRD system with particular focus on solid materials analysis, texture, and thin film characterisation. Offers are invited for the procurement of a floor-mounted XRD system, which will be able to measure polycrystalline/powders, texture, stress/strain, reciprocal space maps, thin film reflectivity, and have a Eulerian cradle (or a similar chi, phi and height stage) for single-crystal work. The ability to add environmental stages (such as high/low temperature and gas reaction cells) is important, so a vertical scattering geometry, theta-theta machine is most likely. Additional features, such as automatic height alignment and 2D detector set up would also be highly preferred.

2712/JN - Benchtop X-ray Diffractometer - The Department of Materials Science and Engineering's X-ray Diffraction (XRD) Small Research Facility is one of the UK's leading lab-based diffraction facilities. It houses state-of-the-art equipment essential to the characterisation of a wide array of solid state materials, including oxide materials (e.g. electroceramics, cements and refractories), metals and glasses, in both powder and bulk form. The facility is currently moving to a new location and as such has had to retire two diffractometers. With funding from EPSRC we are looking to replace these machines with a benchtop system. We require a new high throughput benchtop X-ray diffractometer using Cu radiation for our new advanced characterisation facility. Given the laboratory has been very recently built, it is essential that any new machine not require any significant new services, i.e. it must be self-cooling and run via standard mains power. This diffractometer must be capable of rapid data collection from the wide diversity of materials studied by TUoS researchers - both small bulk pieces (pellets, off-cuts etc) and powdered specimens of ceramics, cements and refractories, metals and glasses. This is an non-EU open exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend system, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/sheffield Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system.
