FWK1085-Courtyards Conservation Project - AWARD - The Palace of Westminster is a Grade I listed building and part of the Westminster World Heritage Site. The deteriorating fabric condition of the external courtyards at the Palace necessitates that remedial works are undertaken. The present project aims to bring the fabric to the courtyards back into a good state of repair, addressing any fabric and structural issues. This includes stonework, windows, rainwater drainage systems, etc., and to restore the courtyards’ architectural integrity through the reinstatement of lost features and cleaning and repair of deteriorated elements. To facilitate these remedial works this 4 year framework is being set up for undertaking the following scope of works in the courtyards. The scope of work in each courtyard will typically include the following: Cleaning and repair of all masonry fabric , including specialist conservation work to carved and medieval elements Reinstatement of lost stone features Refurbishment of all windows, both bronze and leaded, within the courtyards Remedial works to address any structural issues Repair of defective rainwater goods and all above ground pipework, including associated fittings Repair and refurbishment of all historic metalwork fixed to the courtyard elevations, including railings. The Contracting Authority will look for a degree of visibility and transparency in the Framework Contractors sub-contract arrangements, and particularly the selection of specialist sub-contractors who will deliver more sensitive aspects of the Contractors responsibilities. It is anticipated that the repair works undertaken will have a design life of no less than 50 years. All works are expected to be carried out by skilled operatives with experience working in their relevant trade on listed buildings. The Houses of Parliament is accredited by Citizens UK (CUK) as London Living Wage Employers. It agrees to ensure that contracted staff and sub-contracted staff working on its premises are paid at least the LLW subject to the terms of the licence. The terms of the license can be found on our webpage www.parliament.uk. More generally, the Authority is committed to ensuring the welfare of staff who provide services to it and the maintenance of a motivated and stable workforce. The Authority believes that payment of the LLW is one way to meet this obligation.

GB-Cambourne: Airey Structural Repairs Contract - NOTE: This notice was updated on 18 February 2016 for the following reason: The original date (25/3/2016) is a bank holiday. The date has been revised to the day before.Description: Buildings of particular historical or architectural interest. Refurbishment work. South Cambridgeshire District Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to provide specialist remedial repairs to 13 non traditional houses in SCDC’s stock. These 13 non traditional houses are Airey construction, comprising two differing 3 bed semi-detached archetypes; these post-war prefabricated concrete structures consist of precast concrete storey-height columns of steel tube reinforced concrete columns to which thin concrete cladding panels are fastened with copper wire. The repairs that are envisaged to the steel tube reinforced concrete columns are to surface treat, treat & repair, remove and provide new base supports, in preparation to receive External Wall Insulation (EWI) to extend the lifetime of these properties for a minimum of 25 years. This contract shall involve the use of modern repair methods using specialist treatments and also modern building materials. Whilst the materials and techniques will be modern, this is not a straightforward remedial construction contract, due to the non traditional design and the age of the buildings. Therefore this assignment would suit a contractor used to providing remedial repairs to non traditional buildings, historical buildings, unusual buildings or buildings that comprise of precast concrete. Two of the properties are currently unoccupied (Void) and it is expected that these two houses will act as the sample properties for the envisaged repairs before rolling the repairs out to the occupied properties. It is likely that these two houses will provide good working examples of what to expect on the other properties. Intrusive investigation is likely to result in additional problems being discovered as the fabric of the building is uncovered. An allowance has been made for discovery, however, it is possible that other issues will be identified. Estimated contract value is based on the initial schedule is approximately £300k. Please note that SCDC does not guarantee any volumes or value of work, the figures are provided to help bidders understand the nature of the assignments.

External Refurbishment and Conservation of Historic Buildings and Structures - Portsmouth framework - Portsmouth City Council (The Authority) has published this questionnaire to enable the set up a specialised framework of Contractors for the external refurbishment and conservation work to some of the Authority's historic buildings and structures. Historic buildings are defined as those over 100 years old. Due to the types of buildings in question, it is important that Contractors appointed to the framework have proven specialised experienced in this area of work. SCOPE OF WORKS The scope of works that will be let under the framework will vary with each project. To allow the Authority to identify Contractors with experience in different types of work the framework has been split into 4 work type areas. An overview of the type of works that may be carried out within these work areas is given below, however this is not exhaustive. 1. Brickwork - Isolated repairs and replacements, structural repairs, repointing in lime mortar. 2. Stonework - Isolated repair, replacement, piecing in, structural repairs to ashlar stonework, including making templates of existing stonework and carving new matching sections. 3. Roofing - Flat and Pitched, Slate, asphalt, thatch, lead, and leadwork detailing, 4. Other - Contractors to state additional related trades they are able to offer. As part of their return, Contractors must indicate which work areas they are interested in applying for. For each work area case studies and supporting references must demonstrate relevant experience. There is no guarantee of the amount of work that will be put through this framework; however as an example, projects procured from the current list are: •Brickwork and Stonework Repair and Replacement - Cumberland Infants School - 2011- £95,494. •Stonework Repairs - Cenotaph - Portsmouth - 2012 - £90,545 •Structural Repairs and Refurbishment of Main Entrance Stone Steps - Guildhall - Portsmouth - 2013 - £152,736. •Structural Repairs and Stabilisation of Hall Gables - Priory School - 2008 - £35,000 •External Decorations and Reslating of Rear Elevation Roof - Cumberland House - 2009 - £90,724. •Replacement Lintels and Refurbishment of Decorative Panels.
