CEFAS24-06 Request for Quotation for the provision to provide subtidal Sabellaria spp. monitoring surveys using an Adaptive Resolution Imaging Sonar (ARIS) camera at Sizewell, Suffolk UK - Background: The Sizewell BEEMS (British EDF Estuarine and Marine Studies) programme is funded by Sizewell C Limited (SZC). Through this programme, Cefas provide authoritative scientific information on the marine and transitional waters in the vicinity of the consented SZC new build nuclear power station and require a competent supplier to deliver the element described below. Overview of Requirement: Cefas require a supplier to conduct a subtidal Adaptive Resolution Imaging Sonar (ARIS) camera survey for the Sizewell C (SZC) Nuclear New Build project to prepare for construction activities. At SZC there are known offshore areas of the reef forming polychaete Sabellaria spp. The turbid waters in the Greater Sizewell Bay preclude the use of traditional underwater camera, however the seabed in the region has previously been successfully imaged with an ARIS camera (Sound Metrics ARIS Explorer 3000). Previous survey work, including ARIS camera imagery acquired at Sizewell is detailed in the SZC Environmental Statement Appendix 22C for further background context. The objective of the proposed survey is to ground-truth an area of the seabed with an ARIS camera (Sound Metrics ARIS Explorer 3000) to confirm the seabed type and the presence or absence of Sabellaria spp. tube aggregations. The specified 'Sound Metrics ARIS Explorer 3000' is required to ensure quality and data consistency with the previous survey, and therefore it is a requirement for the supplier to either own, or be able to hire, the equipment for the survey. The exact survey area will be derived from a preceding (separate) side scan sonar and bathymetry survey (anticipated Spring 2024), and therefore the exact survey area is not known, however the expectation is that it will be in the region of the offshore infrastructure (Figure 1), approximately 3 km offshore off Sizewell, in approximately 10-20m of water. The survey area is likely to be approximately 1.5 km x 1 km (1.5 km2) and is expected to cover a range of habitats including subtidal sand, subtidal rock (Coralline Crag) and subtidal biogenic reefs (Sabellaria). The survey is required in the Summer of 2024. Download the Bidder Pack at https://defra-family.force.com/s/Welcome and search for CEFAS24-06 under opportunities.

CRSTS Baseline User Surveys - This commission includes two lots: Lot 1 - Bus Passenger Survey, delivered on board buses. Lot 2 - Active Travel Intercept Survey, delivered at roadside. Many of the requirements are the same across both lots, but the locations and survey questions differ. Survey questions and maps with further details on locations are included in the appendices. For both surveys, the successful supplier will be required to carry out baseline surveys at the specified 'treatment' and 'counterfactual' locations using pre-specified questions over a period of 3-4 weeks. The outputs of this project will be a full cross tabulated version of this data, and a PowerPoint pack report summarising some of the key findings. The surveyors should use the survey questions in the appendices, and each submitted survey should be completed in full, including administration and demographic questions. The survey questions have been developed internally, and then amended following feedback from several potential suppliers.

Measuring the impact of BSIP Fares Initiatives - The Combined Authority wishes to procure a survey covering bus users and non-users. The aim of the requirement is to understand how West Yorkshire bus users and non-users feel about the bus fare initiatives exploring any trends by demographic groups. The CA will be undertaking this comparison; this commission covers the data collection exercise only. The 5 West Yorkshire local authority districts to be monitored are Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. For the avoidance of doubt, although York is part of the Combined Authority it outside of the West Yorkshire BSIP and therefore not in scope for this survey. This commission requires a sample that is socio-economic and demographically representative of bus users and non-users across the population of the five districts. This commission requires a questionnaire to be delivered by a face-to-face means deemed suitable by the supplier, and the returns collated.

CEFAS24-28 ITT for BEEMS Bathymetric and Bank Surveys, Sizewell, Suffolk - The BEEMS (British Energy Estuarine and Marine Studies) programme is funded by Sizewell C Limited. Through this programme, Cefas provide authoritative scientific information on the marine and transitional waters in the vicinity of potential new build nuclear power stations. The purpose of this procurement is to provide bathymetric data for the Greater Sizewell Bay (GSB) to assess the geomorphological changes of the region, hence contributing to the ongoing monitoring of the Sizewell Coastline. Two longshore bars (important geomorphological features) exist in shallow waters within the Area of Interest (AOI), with the inner bar being subaerial during some low tide periods. The results gained from the below specified surveys will support the calibration of Cefas instruments located on shore, as well as the ongoing monitoring of the Sizewell coastline. There is a high priority for the furthest landward coverage possible to be achieved by the survey, so that bathymetric data can be meshed to aerial topographic surveys of the beach, typically undertaken at low tide. In addition to the above, the survey also seeks to obtain Side Scan Sonar (SSS), alongside multibeam data, to detect the presence of potential Sabellaria reef in the offshore infrastructure area. This area has previously been surveyed and shown to comprise outcropping Coralline Crag, which supports Sabellaria formations, and as such the data should be of high enough quality to determine and detect potential reef areas. Cefas require two shallow water Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) bathymetric surveys to IHO Special Order (at a minimum) within the Greater Sizewell Bay (GSB) as below: 1. Spring Survey - Full extent (offshore) bank survey (MBES) undertaken in the Spring/Summer months; with data collection in nearshore AOI (MBES) and an offshore infrastructure area (MBES and SSS) to be prioritised first. 2. Nearshore Autumn survey (MBES only). Download the Bidder Pack at https://defra-family.force.com/s/Welcome and search for CEFAS24-28 under opportunities.
