Cervical Cytology Services - Isle of Man - Service Level Agreement for the provision of a Cervical Cytology Service to Noble's (Isle of Man) Hospital The NHS cervical screening programmes have been successful in reducing both the incidence of and mortality from cervical cancer in women in the UK. The Isle of Man cannot provide this service due to the fact that the health services on the Isle of Man only perform approximately 6,500 smears from GP's and colposcopy services, which is not enough to comply with national cancer screening data of 35,000 samples per annum (NHS England). There is a code of practice for cytology laboratories participating in the UK cervical screening programme (October 2015 v2). This has a pivotal part in outlining the key principals, the organisation and staffing, screening and reporting, IT, failsafe, quality assurance, storage and retention of data and samples and training and education. The Department of Health and Social Care, a Department of the Isle of Man Government (the Department) therefore invites expressions of interest from appropriately experienced and established cytology departments in the UK complying with this code of practice. For the Department to accept an Expression of Interest, potential applicants must be able to provide a service which fulfils the following requirements: - Be an accredited laboratory either CPA or UKAS ISO15189 (2012). - Screen all Cervical Cytology specimens from the Isle of Man by HPC registered Biomedical Scientists/Consultant HPCP...ts of HPV testing. - The successful applicant will be responsible to run a failsafe protocol in line with the National Health Service Cervical Screening programme for all screened patients. Notwithstanding that these requirements are subject to the laws of the Isle of Man Government; both parties agree to comply with any applicable provision under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 1998 both Acts of Parliament. Should you wish to participate in this competitive exercise please register your organisation on the Isle of Man Government's Procurement Portal at the following website https://in-tendhost.co.uk/iomg/aspx/Home. Please select 'Register' from the menu on the left side of the Home Page. Once you have registered your organization you should select this tender from the list of 'Current Tenders' and 'View Details' then click 'Express an Interest' at the bottom of the page. Once you have expressed an interest, the 'Form of Acknowledgement' document will become available to complete. In order to progress to the next stage you will need to download, sign and upload the completed 'Form of Acknowledgement' document before the Expression of Interest deadline detailed below. Should you have any difficulty in using the website or registering your interest in this way, please contact Neil Callin, on (01624) 686545 or e-mail neil.callin@gov.im Expressions of interest must be submitted through the above Portal by noon 19th December 2017.

IOW Phlebotomy Service - F9992 IOW Phlebotomy Services - Request for Information The Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) was authorised by the NHS Commissioning Board in January 2013 to become a standalone statutory organisation on 1st April 2013. The CCG is working towards delivering its vision of commissioning high quality, sustainable and integrated services for the Isle of Wight. The CCG is made up of all 16 GP practices on the Island including GP's, practice nurses and other healthcare professionals. In ensuring the commissioning of healthcare services to the Island we work alongside professionals from secondary care, public health and the local authority. The CCG aims to recommission an excellent service for people who require phlebotomy (blood specimens to the laboratory to prepare for testing) on the Island. We are seeking from potential providers their views and proposals on providing the service by completing and considering the questions contained within the RFI document. We also welcome your ideas and suggestions in the provision of this service, should you wish to offer them. The Contracting Authority is looking for providers with the necessary capacity and capability (or a demonstrable ability to provide the necessary capacity and capability) to deliver high quality, patient-centred and value for money services, delivered in a safe and effective manner. The contract will be awarded for three years on a standard NHS contract with a potential to extend for a further 24 months. Current Service The current service was commissioned in 2007 through practice based commissioning mechanisms with the aim of improving equity of access, releasing capacity in the laboratory based service, enabling improved continuity of service to wards and improved access for outpatient attendees and contribute to local "green transport" initiatives by reducing the travel associated with a centralised service. The current service enables patients to attend a number of venues for phlebotomy when they have been identified as needing a blood test, however this is not based on patient choice but on a system whereby some practices offer in house phlebotomy and others send patients to outpatients at either St Marys, Newport or Ryde Outpatients. As of April 2016 there are now 16 practices of which 15 of the 16 Island practices are undertaking phlebotomy. In the Newport area, patient can obtain a blood test at their registered practice or via St Marys, conversely; patients in the Ryde area are generally directed to an outpatient's phlebotomy service in Ryde. Current levels of activity are shown in the table below; broadly these are expected to increase with the demand for local services and the need for more diagnostic investigations. Activity January 2015/February 2016 Island population - 140,0000 North & East Locality - 8,510 West & Central Locality - 21,812 South Wight Locality -39,223 Primary Care Total -71,529 St Marys/Ryde Ou...

Susceptibility of Common Bream, Chub and Barbel to Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV) - Spring viraemia of carp (SVC) is a rhabdovirus infection that causes acute haemorrhagic and contagious viraemia in a range of species of fish. The disease is listed by the OIE and, whilst the disease is widespread in continental Europe, it is controlled in a number of EU member states through national measures. The principle host is common carp Cyprinus carpio, however a range of other cyprinid species, and some non-cyprinid species are known to be susceptible to infection. Following an eradication programme the UK was declared free from SVC in 2010. Imports of live susceptible fish species into the UK must originate from SVC free sources. The susceptibility of three important cyprinid species: common bream (Abramis brama), barbel Barbus barbus and chub Squalius cephalus is currently unknown. These species are of increasing importance in recreational angling in the UK, and the demand for fish for restocking rivers and stillwaters in increasing. This presents a risk to the UK aquatic animal health status as both chub and barbel could potentially be imported into the UK without any need for an SVC health declaration
