Description

Birmingham City Council (The Council) are looking for a supplier to offer a bespoke business support to 10 businesses led/owned by women and/or Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic entrepreneurs based in East Birmingham and open to collaborating within the WM Inclusive Entrepreneurship Network. This support will be linked to the work and opportunities emerging from developments driven by the Tyseley Strategic Alliance within the Tyseley Enterprise and Environmental District (TEED), the emerging work on the East Birmingham and North Solihull Growth Zone (part of WM Levelling Up Zones work), the East Birmingham Impact Coalition work bringing strategic partnerships like the National Trust, UHB NHS Trust, and the Birmingham Anchor Institution Network and has to be complementary to a number of business support programmes funded by the UK SPF (currently being launched by the Council. The Council is looking for an organisation to deliver this service during a period of up to 14 months commencing 8th January 2024 and concluding on 31 March 2025. Contract to be awarded to one provider. This is being funded by the Innovate UK DIATOMIC Project and all publicity materials and reporting will be required to reference the funder and use the appropriate WMCA, UKRI and Innovate UK's logos. It is expected that the business support will cover the following specific objectives: - Supporting businesses in designing their Regenerative Business Strategies by: conducting in-depth assessments of current business models to identify opportunities for regenerative practices; assisting in the development of tailored regenerative strategies that align with future market needs; and, providing guidance on incorporating circular economy principles, resource efficiency, and sustainable business practices. - Create sustainable supply chains by: collaborating with businesses based in East Birmingham to evaluate their supply chain or unlock opportunities to enter a new supply chain and identify areas for improvement; Promoting sustainable sourcing practices, ethical supplier selection, and fair-trade initiatives; and, assisting in the adoption of green logistics, carbon footprint reduction, and waste management strategies. - Open the innovation ecosystem to new more diverse businesses by: Supporting businesses in leveraging emerging technologies to enhance sustainability and future readiness; identifying opportunities for digital transformation, automation, and smart systems integration; and, facilitating partnerships and connections, and encouraging consortia building where relevant. The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
