55462 - Ground Investigation at the former Atlas Works Site - AWARD - Birmingham City Council (the Council) requires a supplier for the provision of ground investigation (GI) at the former Atlas Works site, Redfern Road, Tyesley, Birmingham. The purpose of the GI is to inform the construction of a new depot. The depot is required to relocate the services delivered from the existing Montague Street and also the existing Redfern Road Depots, to provide one new purpose built 'super' facility. Montague Street Depot houses the Waste Management Services (WMS) main garage. It carries out repairs, maintenance and MOT servicing on the Council's fleet of vehicles which range from cars, minibuses to refuse lorries. It also carries out MOTs on vehicles belonging to the general public. Redfern Road Depot provides ablutions, welfare and office facilities for operational and administration staff and is also used to park the WMS fleet which operate in East Birmingham and collects and transfers waste to the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) at Tyseley. It is also the Council's Driver Training Centre (DTC). The proposed new super facility will include for the re-provision of modern workshop/garage facility together with the relocation of the facilities at the existing Redfern Road Depot. The 2 existing depots will be amalgamated to make the best use of space sharing welfare, ablutions, offices and meeting spaces and to promote efficiency savings by operating one sustainable site rather than two older uneconomical buildings that are in a poor condition and in need of investment to modernise them. This contract is for a period of 4 months commencing 29th March 2021, until satisfactory completion of the investigation and delivery of the report, subject to approval by the Council. 55468 - Ground Investigation for Smithfield Development (former site of Birmingham's Wholesale Markets) - AWARD - Birmingham City Council requires a supplier for the provision of an intrusive ground investigation at the former site of Birmingham's Wholesale Market (WSM). The findings of the investigation will provide a better understanding of on-site conditions in context with the wider, mixed-use and transformational Birmingham Smithfield development. The site currently presents as being predominantly hard standing, comprising old concrete floor slabs and roads associated with the former WSM. The objective of the proposed GI is to carry out deeper exploration by rotary cored and cable percussive boreholes: 1. Drilling into the Sandstone and the River Terrace Deposits; the Birmingham Fault being orientated north-east/south-west and mapped crossing the former WSM site. Where possible, deep boreholes will be taken to sufficient depths, to provide initial data for geotechnical design principals; ideally extending 5m below the base of any pile foundation. 2. Cable percussive boreholes to investigate more generally across the site, to extend below the Made Ground, particularly where previous window sample boreholes were unable to penetrate into the natural underlying strata. EKFB JV - Framework Opportunity for the Route wide Construction Ground Movements Monitoring - EKFB JV is seeking to appoint numerous Instrumentation and Monitoring Subcontractors on a framework basis to supply, install and maintain the specified instrumentation for the period required. The purpose of I&M is to support pre-construction and construction phases of approx. 90 assets including cuttings, embankments, viaducts and green tunnels across the 80km trace and to manage the geotechnical risk associated with the soil-structure interaction. There is also an opportunity for the monitoring of additional assets within the mentioned main assets including overbridges/underbridges and retaining walls. The scope will include drilling of boreholes and installation of three main type of sensors: Piezometers, Inclinometers and Extensometers. The Subcontractors will be required to combine manual and automatic solutions, hence dataloggers will also to be installed within the boreholes to remotely record readings at agreed specified intervals. The planned start of the construction phase is 1st June 2021 and will last over 4 years period. Following receipt of the questionnaire, we will create a short list by assessing capabilities, experience, availability of each Subcontractor. This stage will be followed by a competitive tender. EKFB are a joint venture between EIFFAGE, KIER, FERROVIAL and BAM who have been awarded the main works civils contracts for lots C2 and C3 of HS2. This consists of approximately 80km of earthworks, bridges, culverts, tunnels and other ancillary works from Great Missenden in the South to Southam in the North.

NUN - Modern Methods of Construction, Architect and Employer's Agent Framework - Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably skilled and experienced providers for the delivery of construction and related activities under three Lots as follows: Lot 1 - Modern Methods of Construction, Civil, Structural and Groundworks; Lot 2 - Architect and Lead Designer Services; Lot 3 - Project Management, Employer's Agent and Quantity Surveyor Services.
