MA17 - Site Investigation & Anchoring for FOW - One challenge for the deployment of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWTs) is designing and installing anchors that are both reliable and cost-effective, whilst being capable of withstanding the dynamic loads exerted by the mooring lines. Site investigation is a critical stage in the design of these anchors. It gives vital data on seabed geology, soil properties, and environmental conditions, all of which influence the choice of anchor type, its performance, and the installation method. The site investigation for offshore anchors typically encompasses a mix of geophysical and geotechnical surveys. The specific methods and equipment used are dictated by the characteristics of the site in question.

EI08 - Dynamic Cable Electromagnetic Field Impact Review -ORE/23/124 - Floating offshore wind projects are anticipated to grow in scale around the UK from 2020 to 2030 - from small demonstrator projects to full scale commercial projects. This growth in scale is consistent with the broader growth in offshore wind development in the UK as part of the UK's efforts to achieve "net zero" by 2050 (and 2045 in Scotland). Electromagnetic Field (EMFs) has been identified as a priority area and a key area of interest in the development of commercial floating offshore (FOW) farms over the course of the next decade and beyond. for future project activity. FOW technology presents the opportunity for offshore wind development in areas of the sea beyond the water depth limits that apply to fixed turbines. As such, the requirement of dynamic cables suspended within the water column are likely to interact with a wider range of marine organisms.
