Consultancy Marine Autonomy - The University of Plymouth is part of a consortium lead by Plymouth City Council, including Plymouth Marine Laboratory, the University of Exeter and the Marine and Coastguard Agency, working collaboratively on the project: Maritime Regulatory Innovation Framework (MRIF) - Developing regulatory frameworks to support maritime innovation. The aim of the consortium is to propose a regulatory framework which addresses the industry's needs to drive R&D in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. The consortium are investigating the challenges surrounding Maritime Regulation and the adoption of new technologies. The existing regulatory regime can limit the R&D and testing opportunities because the evidence base required for certification can often only be created through operation of vessels, yet the certification is a prerequisite to such operations.

T0543 TTDC3031 Higher Biocontent Fuel Deployment Research - As part of the 2021 Transport Decarbonisation Plan, the Department has committed to working with stakeholders to "explore potential measures to remove existing market barriers for higher biocontent fuel use in certain compatible vehicles", with the Department keen to support solutions to these market barriers and to increase higher biocontent fuel uptake. To complete a series of stakeholder interviews and a literature review of the information and data that is available on the deployment of higher biocontent fuel by Heavy Duty Vehicle (HDV) fleet operators. Capture comprehensive first-hand information and data from operators already deploying higher biocontent fuel in their fleets in both the UK and Internationally. Alongside completing a literature review of existing information, data, and guidance, including evidence available internationally from policy development and academic research. From this, produce findings report that collates all the available information around challenges/barriers, costs, solutions to deployment, government incentives/intervention used, benefits of higher biocontent use and lessons learned through existing deployment. The findings report should also make recommendations/suggestions on how the UK could increase higher biocontent fuel uptake based on evidence on what has been effectively implemented internationally.

T0547 Roadside Technology RIS3 Programme Development - The key objective of this service is to produce an indicative 5 year programme of Roadside Technology renewal schemes for the RIS3 period. This will provide a consistent approach across all regions. This will deliver a prioritised approach to development of roadside technology renewal schemes that shows a demonstrable link to the RIS3 investment case, national priorities and required performance targets, notable 95% technology availability of assets. The final financial settle for the renewals of roadside technology in RIS3 has not yet been formally concluded. However, it is known that RIS3 funding will be a significant increase on that of RIS2. Having an indicative 5 year RIS3 programme will allow National Highways to give pipeline visibility to roadside technology equipment suppliers and design/delivery contractors whilst offering increased flexibility to react to future contract and organisational changes due to happen during RIS3.
