Single Module Flask (SMF) Alignment System - National Nuclear Laboratory has a requirement to design and manufacture a Flask Alignment System for Single Module Flask (SMF) posting operations at Cave 6 Horizontal Posting Port (HPP) located at the Windscale Active Handling Facility (AHF). Cave 6 is a shielded hot cell which handles radioactive materials. The Flask Alignment System is required to accurately and repeatedly position the SMF relative to the HPP during the docking process. This is to ensure the slipper inside the SMF, which carries the contents of the SMF, transfers smoothly from the Bore of the SMF to the Bore of the HPP without catching at the interface point.
