STEP WP5 - Fusion Power Plant - Breeder Blanket Design Challenge - UKAEA wants to identify and partner with Consultant(s) to develop conceptual designs for the breeder blankets of a fusion power plant. Identified Consultant(s) would develop conceptual designs for fusion Breeder Blankets, which are critical systems for future fusion power plants. This system plays an important role in the fuel and thermal cycles of fusion power plants. Breeder Blankets generate fusion fuel and useful heat, which is transferred to the circulated coolant. In many cases this is pressurised and places large loads onto the Breeder Blanket structure. Consultant(s) are requested to submit proposals that address structural and thermal design challenges, applying their expertise to either improve performance, manufacturability and/or Technology Readiness

Autonomous Drone Engineer - Unmanned Survey Solutions design and build Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's). We have a requirement for a Marine Drone Specialist to support us on a new project to assist with the research, design and build of a new 4-5m Accession class USV. Candidates should apply if they have a relevant degree in product design and can demonstrate extensive relevant experience and the following skill sets: 1. Project management skills for research and design projects 2. Knowledge of existing Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's) 3. Knowledge and experience operating Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (UAV's) or drones 4. Ability to assist with the design and implementation of an autonomous launch and landing system for a UAV onboard a USV 5. Ability to research current market Launch And Recovery System (LARS) for small vessels and then design a new bespoke LARS for the new Accession class USV 6. Ability to research and design a vessel control system 7. Ability to then integrate the vessel control system into the USV to ensure safe operation of the vessel thrusters 8. Ability to research current optical avoidance systems, then design and implement a new system to be used with the USV control system 9. Ability to research, design and implement a power management system to ensure reliable power is provide to all systems throughout the operating periods the vessel is required 10. Ability to research, assist with the design and integration of an underway winch system for lowering sensors whilst the USV maintains speed and heading 11. A general capability for undertaking electrical works such as cable making and soldering 12. An ability to research, design and fit out the USV with a long range WiFi system 13. A working knowledge of Hydrographic and cartographic payload equipment including single and multiple-beam echo-sounders, GNSS sensors, sound velocity sensors and 3d mobile scanners This project will be part funded by ERDF.

Evaluation of the London Digital Mental Wellbeing Pilot - The London Digital Mental Wellbeing (LDMW) programme aims to deliver an online mental wellbeing service which will promote good mental wellbeing and encourage self-care. The intention is to offer a mental health and wellbeing support service 24/7 to Londoners, particularly those adults of working age who suffer from common mental health issues but do not get support from public services. The programme will be undertaking a limited soft launch in May 2017, and a London-wide soft launch in September 2017. The evaluation service will run for up to 2 years from May 2017 to cover the development and build of products, as well as testing and live status.

DIT Gulf Health Observatory Scoping Phase - **THE CLOSING DATE FOR THIS TENDER IS 25th NOVEMBER 2016, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY DIRECT TO THE BUYER** As part of Healthcare UK’s plan of activities to support the Gulf Cooperation Council countries we are looking to establish a Gulf Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (from this point on referred to as “the Observatory”). The Observatory will develop data and analysis from six Gulf states (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE) to provide analysis to guide healthcare reform in the region. The Observatory will support and promote evidence-based health policy making through comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the dynamics of health care systems in the Gulf and will engage directly with policymakers. Bridging policy and academia, the Observatory will conduct monitoring, research, knowledge brokering and capacity building. By bringing multiple research strands, monitoring activities and stakeholders together within one coherent initiative, the Observatory has far greater capacity for cost effective policy impact than single issue projects. We are seeking to set up a flagship partnership between Gulf governments, HMG and academia to support and inform healthcare policy making and provision in the region. We will propose an equal partnership between all parties to avoid it being perceived as a vehicle for one particular government and to ensure that it has the intellectual credibility to inform policy. There are several other “observatories” providing monitoring and analysis functions, but this project is seeking to go beyond simply monitoring and analysis to offer a platform for data sharing, policy discussion and capacity building. This requirement is based on the European Observatory model that has equal partnerships and a depth of engagement between government and academic stakeholders. This request is specifically for the scoping phase of establishing a Gulf Observatory on Health Systems and Policies as the significant projected scale will require work in several phases.

UK SBS BLOJEU-CR16063 Experimental Process Study - The aim of the study is to examine the operational model of the ISIS facility with regard to the experimental programme and science outputs. The facility has run with the same operational principles since its inauguration. The through put of the experimental programme from beamtime application to published paper is a complex processes covering many months. The study will look at the end to end process and develop alternatives to the present model. The facilities within the STFC are a large investment in the research infrastructure and as such scrutiny of the operation is an important part of providing assurance of value for money. An independent review of the operation of such a complex system will provide an opportunity to improve , restructure or affirm the different strands of the process.

Review of the Car Parking Strategy 2011 for North East Lincolnshire - North East Lincolnshire Council has a requirement to engage external consultancy support to produce an independently assessed, review the Parking Strategy drafted in 2011. This commission is a separate piece of work to the 'Parking Development Strategy for Grimsby Town Centre', which has been completed by the Council's regeneration partner, ENGIE. This is available upon request. The purpose and aim of this separate commission is to review the Parking Strategy 2011 document alongside the policies within it including adding in any learning from the Parking Development Strategy. This will include ensuring the new strategy complies with current legislation and will be fully informed by research completed as part of the consultancy work evaluating the current parking performance of on and off street parking in the borough. The Council needs to ensure that the Revised Parking Strategy delivers a parking offer that meets local needs and economic expectations.
